SSTP Shield ("the app") is a VPN client for SSTP and SoftEther servers, including public VPN Gate servers. This policy explains what data the app and its backend collect, why, and how it's handled.
Signing up does not require an email address, phone number, or password. Instead, the backend generates a random username for you, and the app generates a random device ID stored locally on your device. Together these identify your subscription/trial and your registered devices — nothing else is required to use the app.
The app and its backend do not log, inspect, or store your browsing activity, DNS queries, or the content of your VPN traffic. The backend's job is limited to issuing/validating subscriptions and handing out a server list — it is not in the path of your tunneled traffic at all.
SSTP Shield connects you to third-party SSTP/SoftEther servers, including the public VPN Gate volunteer server pool. Traffic routed through a given server is, as with any VPN, visible to the operator of that specific server — this is inherent to how VPN Gate and similar public relay networks work, and is outside SSTP Shield's control. Review VPN Gate's own academic research disclosure if you plan to route sensitive traffic through their pool.
Account, session, and payment records are stored in a Postgres database operated on your behalf by the SSTP Shield operator. Data for a user is retained while their account/session remains active, and can be deleted by contacting us (below) or by an operator via the admin console.
SSTP Shield is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone we know to be under the age required by their local law to use a VPN service.
If this policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date above will change. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
